THREE-DAY PAINTING COURSE WITH JENNY AITKEN (RSMA)
We paint outdoors when the weather allows, and there’s plenty to chase: landscape, the lake, the interiors of the castle itself when the sky turns. Each day runs 10am to 4pm with a break for lunch — a demonstration from Jenny to start, then she works with each of you one-to-one. Lunch and refreshments are provided on site, an indoor space when you need it, and exclusive access to Lough Cutra throughout.
This one’s pitched at artists who already work outdoors (in oil or acrylics) but want to go deeper. Relative beginners are welcome, once you have the necessary kit. (See suggested supplies). Places are limited so everyone gets individual attention.
Course Fee: €580 per person (includes lunches).
Two optional evenings out if you fancy the company of the group: a pizza at the Rustic Oven in Tully’s, Kinvara on the Friday (€20), and dinner at the Pier Head on the Saturday (€50).

PLEIN AIR WORKSHOP WITH KIERAN GUCKIAN
There are few better spots in the county to set up an easel. The castle, the lake, the old grounds — it’s the kind of place artists travel a long way to find, and we’re spending a full day there with Kieran Guckian.
Running from 10.30am to 4.30pm, it’s built around doing, not watching. Kieran starts with a demonstration, then works with each of you one-to-one. This workshop is suitable for artists working in oil or acrylic., whatever your level whatever you’re painting in. You need to bring your own plein air painting supplies and kit. Lunch is provided, on site and an indoor space to fall back on if the weather turns.
€90 per person (includes lunch). 50 % refund if you cancel by 18 August.

PAINT/SKETCH OUT AT DURAS WALLED GARDEN, KINVARA

There are quiet, tucked-away corners of the county that most people never get to paint. Duras walled garden is one of them.
Duras House sits just outside Kinvara, with views out to the Burren and Kinvara Bay, and its beautifully restored 19th-century garden makes a perfect setting for a day outdoors with an easel or a sketchbook.
Running from 11am to 4pm, with a break for lunch. The owner will give a short talk and tour of the garden to get you started, and from there you’re free to work in any medium, paint or sketch, whatever suits.
€30 per person includes exclusive access to the private garden, the owner’s talk and tour, lunch and refreshments, and a free draw for art prizes.
